Permit Fees False Alarm Charges Appeal Process

Registration / Renewal:

  1. Registration :

    1. $14 for Residential
    2. $14 for Commercial
    3. $0 for Senior (65 years and older, Residential only)

  2. Renewal :

    1. $14 for Residential
    2. $14 for Commercial
    3. $0 for Senior (65 years and older, Residential only) Proof of Senior citizen: Copy of any federal or state id showing the year of birth

Permit Period:
  1. 1 year from the issue date.

Permit Transfer:
  1. Permits are non transferable from one person to another or from one location to another.

Late fee for Registration or Renewal:
  1. NA

Billing Type:

  1. False alarms are accumulated and are charged within the preceding 12 month period.

  1. 1st False Alarm : No fine

  2. 2nd False Alarm : $93.00, with the option to complete the online awareness class in lieu of payment within 30 days of the invoice date

  3. 3rd False Alarm and above: $93.00 each

  1. 1st False Alarm and above: $93.00 each

Late fee for False Alarms:

  1. NA.

Alarm user has a right to appeal the false alarm fee or the suspension of the permit.

Alarm user must submit the appeal in writing within 30 days from the invoice date setting forth the reasons for the appeal.

Appeal fee: None

Appeal must be entitled “Appeal from Alarm Administrator’s Action”.

PMAM will forward all documents provided by the Alarm user to the City of Indio’s respective designee to review and render the decision. Once the decision is made, City of Indio’s designee will inform PMAM of any adjustments which need to be made on the account.

PMAM will notify the citizen of the appeal decision.

Non-Compliance Permit Suspension

Alarm User: NA

Alarm Installing / Monitoring Company: NA

A permit can be suspended for following reasons:

  1. Excessive False Alarms: The permit shall be placed on suspension if 4 or more false alarms occur at the alarm location in a 30-day period.

  2. Non Payment: The permit shall be placed on suspension for the non-payment of any fees if the invoice remains unpaid for 30 days after the due date.

Reinstatement Process

A permit can be reinstated as follows:

Excessive False Alarms:

  1. Pay all invoices generated before the pre suspension notice date.

  2. Provide a work order or necessary paperwork indicating that the alarm system has been inspected and repaired (if necessary)

  3. Complete the online awareness class

Non Payment:

  1. Pay all invoices

  2. Pay a reinstatement fee in the amount of $20
